Whale Watching

All southern right whales agree: Mossel Bay has the perfect combination of depth and shelter for romance – and for safe and easy calving. That’s why all people agree – Mossel Bay is the perfect place for whale watching (which is especially good in whale season – May to October). On a good whale watching day (which is most days in Mossel Bay), you can see the whales from almost any elevated position on the shore. Here are some of our favourites:

The Point – with its restaurant and coffee shop where whale watching is always on the menu
Cape St Blaize Lighthouse
The lawns of the Dias Museum Complex
De Bakke or Dias Beach
Any cliff top on the southern side of town
