Environmental Message Finds Traction

The message is getting through!
Members of the Mossel Bay Environmental Partnership (MEP) are at last beginning to feel that their work is making a difference to the way people think about - and act towards - the natural environment.
“Despite the fact that large numbers of visitors have descended on the area over the holiday season - which puts considerable strain on the region’s resources - everyone seems to be generally more aware of their responsibilities towards the environment,” said the MEP’s Fred Orban.

New St. Blaize Trail map now available
A new map of the St. Blaize Hiking Trail has been published by the Garden Route Casino Trust.
“The St. Blaize Trail is one of Mossel Bay’s most enduring attractions, and the Trust has been funding and facilitating rehabilitation work on it since 2008 for the benefit of the community and the natural environment,” said Mossel Bay Tourism’s Marcia Holm.

St. Blaize Hiking Trail

The St. Blaize Trail is a popular 13.5 km (6 hour) hike that follows the 30 metre contour along the cliffs westwards from the Cape St. Blaize Lighthouse. It begins at the Cave below the Lighthouse, and ends at Dana Bay (you can walk it in either direction), and is marked with the sign of the Oystercatcher (see photo). Upgrades to Mossel Bay’s St. Blaize Trail
Mossel Bay’s iconic St. Blaize Trail - a 12.5 km contour path that extends westwards from the Cape St. Blaize Cave - is presently being upgraded.

Top BBC presenter Julia Bradbury visited Mossel Bay this week with a crew from the British television production company Skyworks to film a documentary on the town’s Cape St Blaize and Oyster Catcher Hiking Trails.
