In response to a call to action for donated spekboom cuttings, a resident in Heiderand donated more than a 1000 cuttings. The cuttings will make part of a spekboom maze envisaged to be established in Heiderand. Approximately 6000 cuttings are needed. Members of the public can bring cuttings to the Harry Giddey Park (at the animal sanctuary) or the fire station at Great Brak River until the end of October. Cuttings must be approximately 30cm.
The Mossel Bay Municipality has as one of its strategic focal points within the GROW strategy, growing the environment and therefore actively pursues greening the neighbourhoods. As part of this, the youth is also invited to take part in constructive and educational activities during the school holidays, which includes the opportunity to help plant the donated spekboom cuttings under supervision of the municipal parks team.
On Tuesday, 3 October between 10:00 to 12:00 any participants are welcome to report at the Harry Giddey Park to lend a hand.
