For example; a visiting traveler eats in a restaurant, buys art in a gallery, stays in a guest house or cruise on a yacht in the bay. This tourist`s money is then spent by the local business owner in other businesses in and around town; he supports the local supermarket and liquor shop when he buys stock, buys a vehicle and supports the local hardware shop when he does maintenance. These businesses in turn employ people who on their turn support the town’s businesses and so the ripple gets wider and larger – all with money the tourist originally spent.
A town’s economic development (ripple in the water) touches all its residents and if you are a business owner on top of that, Tourism is your business so much more. You don’t have to be a Tourism business owner to be a member of Mossel Bay Tourism.
