A Polish Jew, who is a brilliant pianist, witnesses the restrictions Germans place on Jews in the Polish Capital, from restricted access to the building of the Warsaw ghetto. As his family is rouded up to be shipped off to the German Nazi labour camps, he escapes deportation and eludes capture by living in the ruins of Warsaw.
It is based on the autobiographical book The Jewish Pianist and composer Wladyslaw Szpilman.
This movie claimed three Oscars.
